Our story
Founded in 2022, Omaha Bagel Co. began as an in-home cottage bakery for our family to explore the lessons of entrepreneurship while seeking greater purpose in life.
Over three years, our small but mighty team of six (Henry, Michelle, Will, Jack, Maddie, and Charlie) hand-rolled over 500,000 bagels on our kitchen counter to share with the Omaha community.
We worked at Farmer’s Markets. We delivered bags of bagels on porches (sometimes wearing costumes!). We boxed bagels for offices, for friends, for 5k races.
Our children discovered that hard work not only results in extra allowance money, but also builds character and relationships. We fell in love with “bagel life” and quickly learned Omaha craves imperfectly perfect sourdough bagels.
Our naturally leavened bagels are boiled, baked, and guaranteed to satisfy your craving for crunch. You can expect the same delicious, high-quality product every time you bite into an Omaha Bagel.
We’ve outgrown our personal ovens and garage space, but we keep our core values close to home as we open our first bagel shop.
We strive to serve our friends and neighbors with the same genuine positivity as we did each Sunday at the market.
So grab some coffee, smear some cream cheese, and enjoy each
bite of your Omaha bagel.
Why Bagels?
Why not?
Curiosity and hard work have driven our decisions from the get-go. We saw a gap in the market and thought, “Let’s give this a shot.” That’s how we do things here. We jump right in to find creative solutions to make our Omaha community better. We work alongside kind and capable people because we understand the impact of strong communities. But mostly, we love to bake and eat bagels made from simple ingredients.
So no, even though we aren’t from New York, and we aren’t 5th-generation bagel rollers, we are seriously, passionately, deeply dedicated to the craft. We promise you this: each Omaha Bagel is made from high quality, unbleached and unbromated flour, sea salt, EVOO and organic malt — boiled and baked. Keep it simple, keep it delicious. We’re so glad you’re here!
